The decision was taken out of Reinier de Ridder’s hands at UFC Vancouver.
De Ridder was aiming for a win in Canada that would take him to 4-0 UFC, and place him in line to face Khamzat Chmaev in the middleweight championship.
Brendan Allen, however, had a completely different plan. He took advantage of an opportunity that arose late after Anthony Hernandez withdrew, and secured his second consecutive win.
‘The Dutch Knight’ started well but soon faded in the UFC Vancouver main event. Things got so bad that De Ridder’s coach threw in the towel to bring an end to the beatdown his fatigued fighter was suffering.
