Novak Djokovic won his 200th career indoor match by beating Nuno Borges, 7-6 (7-1), 6-4. He reached the Athens Open semifinals. The 24-time Grand Slam champ missed three break-point opportunities in the first game but improved his level in tiebreak to easily win.
Djokovic, preparing for the ATP Finals in New York next week, sealed the only break midway through second set, to earn a berth in the final four on Friday against German qualifier Yannick Hafmann.It was a physical battle. Djokovic stated, “I thought Nuno performed at a high-level.””I was a little surprised by how good he performed. I thought we were toe-to-toe for most of the game. The winner was decided by just a few points and deserves applause.
