I’m not sure what the NFL did to get on Santa’s naughty list this year, but I just looked at the Christmas schedule and the league is definitely getting coal in its stocking, which is something I actually know a thing or two about because I’ve gotten coal in 11 of the past 13 years. The NFL is holding a tripleheader on Christmas and of the six teams involved, four of them have already been eliminated from the playoffs, three of them could be starting a backup quarterback, two of them have at least nine losses and only one of them is guaranteed to make the playoffs this year (Denver). And none of the teams will be featuring a partridge in a pear tree during their halftime show, which seems like a total miss. Anyway, if you’re a fan of Chris Oludakun, Max Brosmer or Josh Johnson, this might go down as the best Christmas slate of games ever, but for everyone else, not so much. And if you’ve never heard those names, that’s Kansas City’s third-string QB, Minnesota’s backup QB and Washington’s third-string QB, who could all be playing this week. With a slate like that, I know what I’ll be doing on Christmas and it will likely involve drinking my favorite holiday concoction of tequila and egg nog. Is it good? No. But it’s a Christmas tradition and that’s all that matters.

Houston, we have a problem and that problem is that we’re 17 weeks into the NFL season and I still have no idea how good the Texans are. Now, before you start sending me hate mail, Texans fans, let me finish my point. I know the Texans are good, but I’m not sure if they’re good enough to beat the NFL’s best teams on the road and that’s mostly because they haven’t done it yet. The Texans have played three road games this year against teams that currently have 10 wins or more and they’ve gone 0-3 in those games with losses to the Rams, Jaguars and Seahawks. The problem for the Texans is that if they make it into the postseason as a wild card team, that means they’ll have to play their opening game on the road and that game will be against a team that has 10 wins or more. My biggest issue with the Texans is that I still don’t know what to make of their offense. They certainly have one of…
