Newbury tips: Lowry’s Bar fancied to outrun odds in Coral Gold Cup showdown | Racing News

Weekend Winners are back for a look at the weekend action in Newbury and Newcastle. The team scoured the 24 strong field of the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury, which will be live on Sky Sports Racing from 2.55pm.
Myretown, who won the Ultima Handicap last season at the Cheltenham Festival, is currently the favourite, while Resplendent Gray, The Changing Man, and Hyland are also near the top of the market.

Sam Boswell …”You don’t want Panic Attack to win because she’s nine and you’d prefer a horse who’s between seven and eight years old. Resplendent Grey is a good example of a horse you don’t want to have a weight that is too high. I like him, but I believe he is vulnerable in terms of winning. I was looking for an all-in play, and my choice will probably be fairly hopeful of rain. I looked at all the horses and settled on Hobbs & White’s Lowry’s Bar who is 25/1.”There are a couple of negatives – he didn’t have a race last time he ran and he was bleeding when he stopped. But they seem happy to come here fresh and have a chance. It is better if it rains more. He’s deemed to be more than capable in taking on this distance and the pace will also suit him. I am willing to give him an opportunity in a race that is open. The hype that the favourite received for his victory at Cheltenham may have been fair, but I’m willing to leave him. The Changing Man’s odds are 13/2. The Resplendent grey is not a each-way bet.
