Mo Salah opens up on feelings at Liverpool after equalling Wayne Rooney record

Mohamed Salah talked about his disappointing start to the season (Image: X/TNT Sports).Mohamed Salah said he won’t take playing for Liverpool ‘for granted’ after his historic goal against Aston Villa. The Egyptian’s difficult start coincided with Liverpool’s recent poor form. They beat Aston Villa by 2-0 in Anfield, ending a four-match Premier League losing streak. Salah equalled Wayne Rooney’s Premier League record of most Premier League goals for a club with his strike on the stroke before half-time. Salah is now equal with Ian Rush and Roger Hunt in the Reds’ all-time goal scoring list. Salah has at times looked as if he’s struggling to adjust to the arrivals Hugo Ekitike Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak. But after scoring his 277th Reds goal, he revealed that he is enjoying his stay in Merseyside. He replied, “After the match when asked about drawing level with Hunt, Rush and others, I said:[I feel] Great.”It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies at such a big club. It’s something that I don’t take for granted. I’m so happy and so proud.”Ryan Gravenberch went on to score a vital second for the Reds to wrap up the victory over Unai Emery’s side. It’s a result which lifted Liverpool into third place, where they are seven points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.Salah scored his first goal at Anfield since the first match of their season(Image: Ryan Browne/Shutterstock)They face a pivotal Champions League clash against Real Madrid and a huge away trip against Manchester City Premier League. When asked about how important it was to win against Villa, he responded: “Yes, it was extremely important.””We’ve lost a few in the Premier League and the Champions League. But now we’re starting to get back on track.”It’s a good win before some very important games with Real Madrid and Manchester City. This is a very freaky season for us because we’ve had a few new players, very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the team.”And we lost a few good players. We just need time to adapt and learn each others’ games. I think we’ll be fine.”Join Mirror’s new WhatsApp community to receive your daily dose. Football content.
