The MLS is soon to mirror the schedules of top European football leagues. According to The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio, the league’s owners voted that the calendar would begin in July with the season running through May in 2027. This wasn’t the sole issue on the table. According to the report, “leagues owners also voted on updating the regular season format.” The playoff format is currently under discussion. According to sources, the league is moving to a single table competition. It will also feature five six-team divisions starting in 2027.
