According to reports, the Angels and former star slugger had too many disagreements to come to an agreement during contract negotiations. Suzuki is expected to change this, but will have to do it with a team who hasn’t reached 80 wins in a single season since 2018. Ron Washington, the Angels manager for the past two seasons, retired after a health issue sidelined him during the second half 2025 season. Albert Pujols may have new destination. According to ESPN there were reports that Albert Pujols had been a frontrunner for the Angels’ open managerial position. This is not the case anymore. Pujols will interview with the Padres for the same position on Wednesday. Previous manager Mike Shildt retired from the position earlier in October, putting San Diego in the market for a new manager.Per ESPN, two of the Padres’ stars – Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado – hold Pujols “in high regard.” Pujols’ contract with the Angels will expire in four years. This is the final year of the 10-year contract that he signed when he retired. Los Angeles granted the Padres permission for him to interview for their manager’s opening. The New York Post reported Pujols disagreed with the Angels on “coaches and resources” and that this ended the possibility of him managing them in 2026. Tigers promise to spend and keep SkubalDetroit Tigers General Manager Scott Harris announced that he had extended manager A.J. Hinch’s contract through the 2025 season.
