    Melbourne Storm forward learns his fate in court after intervening in a restaurant fight

    Melbourne Storm’s Shawn Blore, 25 years old, avoided a conviction for assault after intervening during a fight in a Sydney restaurant in July 2024. He admitted to common assault after a scuffle between his brother Dean, and Naaman Michael who was removed from the restaurant for aggressive behaviour. The altercation began when Mikhael allegedly directed comments at Dean’s partner, sparking a confrontation outside the restaurant. The CCTV footage shows multiple skirmishes between different groups. Shawn, Dean and others were originally charged with affray. They later pleaded to the lesser offense. The magistrate Christine Haskett spared their convictions and placed each of them on a good behavior bond for six months.  Melbourne Storm forward Shawn Blore has avoided a conviction for his role in a restaurant fight It has been a difficult year for Blore, who missed the NRL Grand Final because of a fractured larynxMikhael’s own affray charge was dismissed in December on mental health grounds after the court ruled he did not initiate the violence. Melbourne Storm released a press release following the sentencing.Blore was fully cooperative with the NSW Police and the NRL Integrity Unit throughout the investigation.Storm and Blare are thankful for the Court’s handling of this case and accept the sentence.”Blore has expressed genuine regret for his role in this incident.Melbourne Storm will not make any further comments on this issue.Shawn Blore made his NRL debut with the Wests Tigers, before moving to the Melbourne Storm where he cemented his reputation as an edge forward. He played a key role in the Storm’s run to the 2024 Grand Final, bringing physical presence and defensive work rate. Blore sustained a larynx injury in Round 26 that was potentially fatal for the 2025 campaign. The neck injury, despite intensive recovery efforts forced him to miss the Grand Final. The Storm went on to lose the 26-22 decider to the Brisbane Broncos.
