When the New England Patriots hit the field Thursday night, they will be wearing a new alternate jersey that has never been worn before: the Nor’easter. The uniform was unveiled back in August as part of the NFL’s “Rivalries” program. The Patriots are one of eight NFL teams that will get the new “Rivalries uniform” for 2025. They’ll also be the fourth team in the league to debut it. The Patriots are located in the Northeast, so the team created a “Nor’easter’ jersey and helmet combo that “blends regional natural elements, rich maritime heritage, and football traditions into a bold and future-oriented design,” according the team.
Storm Blue was selected as the official color because of its “rugged, weathered look, worn in like the coastline following a gale.” The neckline of the uniform is adorned with six stars, representing the six New England state.

The Patriots will wear the uniforms in their game on Thursday against the New York Jets. Kickoff is at 8:15 pm. ET via Amazon Prime. The uniforms were first seen by fans at Gillette Stadium when the Patriots went out to warm up.

The Patriots and Nike teamed up to design a new uniform that is supposed to capture “the power, unpredictability, and intensity of a New England Storm”.The Storm Blue look has been a big hit in the Patriots locker room. Jaylin Hawkins told ESPN this week that the uniform was “probably the nicest I’ve ever worn in my entire football career.” The color scheme is awesome. It has a lot of “aura” to it.
In celebration of the new uniforms, the Patriots have given their field a brand new look. This will be the first time that the endzone has been painted in full for a Patriots match.
This year, the Patriots will be one of eight teams participating in “Rivalries”. This program was announced DURING the 2025 NFL Draft back in April, so a lot of people missed the initial announcement. The “Rivalries”, a new uniform for each NFC and AFC division, will be unveiled over the next four years. This year, not all teams received a new uniform.
