Lerone Murphey has revealed that he lost his love for MMA when he learned about the plans to crown a featherweight champion at UFC 325.
After a spectacular knockout of Aaron Pico in UFC 319, the featherweight ranked number four seemed to have staked a claim for a shot at a title. He would have at least seen himself as being closer to a title shot than Diego Lopes who just lost a vacant championship fight in April.
Lopes has only won one title since his title loss. Both Murphy and Movsar Evloev, the top contender, missed out on the opportunity to win a championship. Fans have been outraged by the matchmaking, which they believe is ridiculous.

Lerone Murphy expresses disappointment at UFC 325 title snub
That Dana White’s announcement of the UFC 325 main event didn’t see either Lerone Murphy or Movsar Evloev challenging Alexander Volkanovski has enraged fans of the sport. Diego Lopes didn’t do particularly well in his first effort at the belt, which was less than a year ago.
Murphy said that after hearing the news, he felt disappointed with the sport as a whole. He spoke to Ariel Helwani tonight on Uncrowned. “When I first found out, I fell out of love with it [MMA] for a bit, I’m not going to lie,” Murphy said.
What is Lerone Murphy’s 9-fight winning streak missing to convince the UFC he deserves a shot at Alexander Volkanovski?
