KSW, a Polish MMA Promotion, has announced that it will crack down on fighters who do not meet the weight requirements with a new set of rules.
KSW is a promotion that puts on some of Europe’s biggest events. Many of their stars make it to UFC after achieving titles in KSW. Some of their shows will pack stadiums in Poland, and they have this year boasted super-fights like Eddie Hall’s debut against Mariusz Pudzianowski.
KSW wants to change MMA forever by introducing a key rule to punish fighters that do not make weight. If it is adopted by the entire sport, this could be a game-changer and change weight-cutting forever.

KSW introduces new rules to combat failed weight reduction
For years, it has been pretty standard fare across promotions large and small that if a fighter misses weight, the fight can either be cancelled or a percentage of the failed fighter’s purse will be taken. However, there is a belief that this isn’t enough of a deterrent for those who can’t shave the final lbs.
KSW is punishing fighters now by docking them their purse and starting them with a point disadvantage in the opening round of their match. The statement was quickly circulated around the sport.
Is KSW’s new rule against missing weight too harsh?
“KSW would like to announce that starting from XTB KSW 113 apart from losing a part of his or her salary, each fighter who fails to make the weight limit at the morning weigh-ins on the day before the event shall also lose a point in the first round of the actual fight,”The statement read:
“This penalty will apply to everyone who will not make the required weight limit in their given time, meaning during the morning weigh-ins on Friday and in the additional hour.”
Fans split over new KSW rule
The MMA community hasn’t always been pleased with the decision. Many people believe that it will only see fighters…
