Khamzat Chimaev does not care about retiring undefeated like Khabib Nurmagomedov

Khamzat Chimaev is not focused on protecting his ‘0’.

Nobody has been able to solve the puzzle that the UFC middleweight champion presents inside the cage thus far.

Chimaev’s win over Dricus du Plessis last August to become the king at 185 pounds extended his perfect professional mixed martial arts record to 15-0.

Many are struggling to identify who could add a blemish to Chimaev’s résumé, but it sounds like ‘Borz’ will seek tough challenges that could give someone the opportunity to do so.

Khamzat Chimaev is chasing multiple UFC titles, not protecting his undefeated record

Chimaev claims not to care about staying undefeated until the end of his career inside the Octagon.

In terms of an unbeaten career, nobody has been able to match Khabib Nurmagomedov’s legendary run in MMA.

‘Borz’ would certainly be among the best hopes when it comes to doing so owing to his dominance in the sport.

“I’m not one of those guys that tries to (retire) from the UFC undefeated. I don’t care.

“I just want to make some big (fights),” he added.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s 29-0 record is not enough for GOAT status

Nurmagomedov did something that nobody else has by retiring with his ‘0’ intact. But despite having an unparalleled career in the cage, ‘The Eagle’ is missing something.

The Dagestani legend often falls short in the eyes of fans, fighters, and analysts when it comes to the greatest-of-all-time debate and people’s Mount Rushmore selections.

That is owing to the timing of Nurmagomedov’s retirement at UFC 254 in 2020, which came in his prime after only three successful defenses of the UFC lightweight title.

Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly among the leading contenders for being crowned the best of all time, skill-for-skill. But compared to the likes of Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, and Demetrious Johnson, many believe that he lacks the accolades and duration required to feature in GOAT…
