Heavyweight prospect Josh Hokit’s schtick at least has ‘The Bad Guy’ Chael Sonnen entertained.
The 29-year-old is among those tasked with setting the stage for Jiri Prochazka’s title clash with Carlos Ulberg in the UFC 327 main event.
Hokit will face Curtis Blaydes on the undercard, and ‘The Incredible Hok’ has been trying to steal the show with his work on the microphone during fight week.
It’s safe to say his comments have divided opinion among fans, but Sonnen is on the side of those enjoying Hokit’s character.

Chael Sonnen is ‘into’ UFC 327 star Josh Hokit’s ‘whole routine’
It’s been an eventful few days in Miami for the 8-0 heavyweight prospect, who only earned his contract on Dana White’s Contender Series last September.
After Hokit’s altercation with Prochazka during media day, the American was back at it while on stage for Thursday’s press conference. Hokit left Blaydes and fans baffled by his antics, which included strange poems about both Dan Hooker and ‘Razor’.
Many are describing the former wrestler as ‘cringey’, but one OG of the trash-talking game in the UFC likes what he’s seeing.
“This is just fire for me,” Sonnen said of Hokit in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel. “This is so difficult to do. It is so difficult to come into character.
“Josh Hokit comes out and he decides he’s gonna do interviews in-character. He did one on Ariel Helwani’s show for the better part of half-an-hour…that is incredibly hard to do.
“My favorite part of Hokit is there’s like this shake. There’s this move. He doesn’t stand still,” he continued. “If you go back and watch professional wrestling, particularly in the late 1970s, there were some guys who did the shakes.
“I have never seen the UFC more under-represented in wrestling at heavyweight than it is right now… Hokit is the only NCAA All-American under contract.
“I’m interested in it. I think the interviews are interesting… I’m into the whole routine. If you lose, there’s big risk of looking like a fool. I played the same game. But if you win, there’s a big opportunity to fast-track yourself.”
