Joel Embiid has been added to the Philadelphia 76ers injury report on Tuesday due to “right knee pain”. This means he will be unable play against the Boston Celtics in this evening’s game. Embiid was sidelined for most of the last 2 years because of a left-knee issue. In 2023-24, he tore his meniscus and required a second scope. Last season he played only 19 games. Embiid, the Sixers and their fans were hoping that the procedure would resolve his problems and enable him to play more often. However, now he is dealing with a problem with his right leg. Embiid injured his right leg before. He suffered a right-knee sprain in the 2023 Playoffs first round, against the Brooklyn Nets. This injury limited him moving forward. Embiid, who has played in only six of the ten games of this season for the Sixers, averages 19.7 and 5.5 rebounds while playing just 20-25 minutes per game. Even though he was cautious with his minutes early in the season he is now dealing with knee discomfort. The Sixers kept him out of their last two games against Detroit and the back-to-backs that followed. But his absence on Tuesday raises concerns as it came after two days rest.
The 76ers have a 6-4 record on the season, thanks to an impressive start by their young backcourt, led by Tyrese Maxiey and rookie VJ edgecombe.
