Jiri Prochazka told he must finally ‘evolve’ in the UFC after Alex Pereira figured him out

Jiri Prochazka hasn’t displayed enough evolution inside the Octagon for one ex-fighter’s liking.

The Czech star has been pedal to the metal ever since he signed with the UFC back in 2020, and he’s accumulated a list of knockout victims along the way.

Prochazka will look to defeat Carlos Ulberg and add him to the win column of his record in Saturday’s UFC 327 main event. The pair are headlining in Miami with the vacant light heavyweight title on the line.

The City Kickboxing product is tasked with doing something only Alex Pereira has in the Octagon, and Matt Brown likes his chances.

Matt Brown backs Carlos Ulberg to ‘figure out’ Jiri Prochazka if he hasn’t evolved

Prochazka was knocked out by Pereira in 2024, marking his second stoppage loss to ‘Poatan’.

While the Brazilian is the only one to have figured out the puzzle he presents inside the Octagon, ‘BJP’ could be at risk of others soon using that same blueprint.

That’s according to Brown, who recently suggested that Prochazka’s lack of evolution could be his undoing when he comes up against another patient light heavyweight with strong ‘fundamentals’ at UFC 327.

“I think my biggest question with Jiri that I’ve had for a long time and I’m going to keep having — you can’t play around with non-fundamentals forever. At some point, that starts to catch up with you,” Brown said on MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. The Writer.

“It’s good to evolve, too. He could always have that part of him as part of his game. I don’t mean to be the critic — he’s accomplished more than I did in my career — but I don’t see where it lasts and I don’t see where he’s evolved much at all. He’s just done more of the same.

“That’s where I lean a little bit towards Carlos Ulberg in this fight,” he continued. “Jiri can be figured out. Because when he came into the UFC, and he was on his way up, nobody had seen this before for the most part. Alex figured it out, which Alex is good at figuring out striking.

“But now it’s been seen, and I think if someone, these fundamental guys who have better fundamentals like an Ulberg, if they can game plan towards this, they should be able to figure it out.”
