Carlos Alcaraz also regained the World No. 1 ranking. The 24-year old Italian finished a dominating week in Paris with a 6-4 7-6 (7-4) win over the in-form Auger Aliassime, sweeping his first Paris title. Sinner has now also won 26 matches in a row on indoor hard courts ahead of the four-time grand slam champion’s first defence of his ATP Finals title on home soil later this month. Alcaraz remains the favorite to be the World No. 1 at the end of the year, with a lead over 1,050 in points going into the final tournament of the season, which will take place in Turin, Italy. Auger-Aliassime missed a golden opportunity as the ninth-seeded Canadian needed to win to secure his place in the ATP Finals season-ending event.Sinner stated in an on-court interview that the match was “huge, intense and we both knew it was on the table.””From my perspective, I am extremely pleased. The past two months have been fantastic. We have worked hard to improve, and seeing such results makes me very happy.Another title, it has been an incredible year, regardless of what happens in Turin.”He never lost control of the match against Auger Aliassime. An early break in the set in the first was enough to put him in the lead. He then had Auger Aliassime on his back foot throughout the second. It was decided by a tiebreak which Sinner won.
