Jannik Sinner kept his hopes of being ranked No.1 for the year alive with a Vienna Waltz victory over Daniel Altmaier.
Altmaier lost to the 2023 Vienna champion and top seed. They raced to the finish line in only 58 seconds.
Sinner, who had to retire in the third round of his Shanghai Title defence earlier this year, also extended to 17 matches his winning streak indoor hard courts.Sinner stated that he felt “in the first set, everything was going very well.”
You have to be careful on indoor courts. When your opponent begins to serve well it is very difficult to break. Today’s performance was very good, I feel very satisfied. It’s a great way to start the tournament.
