This poll comparing pound for pound delivered a resounding result.
Not many debates continue to divide opinion as much as the one surrounding the UFC’s P4P rankings, and a recent shakeup at the top of the pecking order has stirred discussion once again.
Islam Makhachev dominated Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 to become the promotion’s eleventh two-division champion. Dana White predicted that the Dagestani star would return to the top of the pound for pound list.
The man who won the multi-weight title just a few months earlier, Makhachev, has now dropped to second. Was this change justified? Bloody Elbow readers have had their say…

Over 50 percent of fans support Islam Makhachev’s return to the pound-for-pound throne
Fans were able, as part of the Bloody Elbow TalkingPoints survey, to weigh in on the debate about who should occupy the pound for pound throne.
Readers were given seven choices — Makhachev, Topuria, Jon Jones, Khamzat Chimaev, Merab Dvalishvili, Alex Pereira, or somebody else.
Makhachev was the clear winner among 2,555 voters.
A little over 53 percent of voters ranked the Dagestani as the number one contender in the UFC rankings. In comparison, only 14.46 percent of fans believe Topuria should have kept his grip on the crown after Makhachev’s UFC 322 performance.
While Jones came not too far behind ‘El Matador’ with 11.35% of the vote, the remaining names were a fair distance off. Chimaev, Dvalishvili, and Pereira all took home just less than six percent of the vote each, with ‘Borz’ leading and ‘Poatan’ coming bottom of the available names.
