Islam Makhachev, the only UFC star in history to have won two championships across different divisions has been backed by many to achieve another historic victory.
Islam Makhachev, who made his UFC 322 welterweight debut overnight, defeated the defending Jack Della Maddalena in Madison Square Garden by a unanimous decision.
Makhachev added the welterweight title to his impressive lightweight victory, and he celebrated by raising both belts high above his head on the Octagon.
According to a former champion the new number one pound for pound could easily add another historic trophy to his trophy case.
