Ian Machado Garry has aspirations of challenging for the Dagestani’s newly acquired welterweight gold in 2026, and he believes an emphatic victory on Saturday will secure him that chance.

Ian Machado Garry is asking the Georgians to help him defeat Islam Makhachev
Garry has rejected Makhachev’s plan to fight Kamaru Usman next and firmly expects to put in a UFC Qatar display that earns him the shot.
When he finally gets a chance to face the new champion, the Dublin native intends to hire the help of the Georgians.
“I swear to God, yesterday I spoke to my wife about coming to Georgia,” Garry said during a fight week interview with Setanta Sports in Qatar.
“When I fight Islam Makhachev…all the Georgians out there, I need help. I’m gonna want your help.
“So I’m going to come to Georgia,”He continued. “I want help, and I want bodies to help me prepare and beat Islam…
