Heisman Rankings: Is the Award Texas Tech LB Jacob Rodriguez’s to Lose?

Robert Griffin III thinks there’s one clear frontrunner for the Heisman trophy. In the latest edition of Griffin’s Heisman List, the FOX College Football analyst stated that “the Heisman is Jacob Rodriguez’s to lose.” Rodriguez climbed to No. Griffin’s Heisman List last week ranked Rodriguez No. 1 after he recorded 14 tackles in Texas Tech’s dominant win against then undefeated BYU. Rodriguez’s Heisman Trophy odds are still long despite his impressive performance for a Texas Tech team that has only one loss. DraftKings Sportsbook gives him +13000 odds of winning the Heisman trophy, but Griffin is still showing Rodriguez love. Let’s look at Griffins Heisman list.  RGIII says of Rodriguez: “The Heisman is Jacob Rodriguez to lose. Jacob Rodriguez, Texas Tech’s linebacker, is the best defensive player you can choose to help you achieve your dream. He has more impressive numbers than Manti Te’o did when Te’o was the runner-up in the Heisman Trophy race. He also scored a touchdown last weekend. “This what [Texas Tech head coach] Joey McGuire said it best: ‘Everybody’Heisman Award, we decided to put him at quarterback. He scored a touchdown. Before that interception, however, I had said to him: “Get the ball back. Let’s go into the endzone and we can score two.” He returned the ball to me. You’re talking about those QBs. He was lined up at the QB position and we let him score an offensive touchdown, as a two way player. He is like Travis Hunter, winner of the Heisman Trophy in 2013.”RGIII on Reed”[He] brought his team back from a 30-3 deficit — because of his play, as well. In the second half he threw for 439 yard and three touchdowns. [It was the] biggest comeback in Texas A&M history. SEC’s biggest comeback since 2004. He had his Heisman moments.” Marcel Reed helped Texas A&M keep its undefeated season alive in Week 12. (Photo by Alex Slitz/Getty Images). RGIII says of Mendoza, “He continues to play hard.” Indiana’s first 11-0 season in the history of its program. He throws four touchdowns in the game against Wisconsin.Sayin on RGIII: “Again he is playing really, really good. This race will come down to the conference championship game.”RGIII’s thoughts on King: I think Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King is the best candidate for this race. 5. He continues to accumulate incredible numbers.”RGIII On Love: “[You should] Watch this spin move that he did [on his 56-yard touchdown run against Pitt]. It’s Heisman-style. This man is more agile than any military family. Want the best stories delivered to your inbox every day? Follow leagues, players, and teams to receive daily personalized emails!
