It has become very rare to see UFC fighters receive suspensions for taking banned substances.
In recent times, we’ve seen Jeff Novitzky clarify a fighter’s claim that he was given peptides by the promotion ahead of his bout at UFC 324.
This false flag was explained by the promotion’s senior vice president of athlete health and performance as nothing more than a miscommunication.
Elsewhere, a member of the roster was suspended for a staggering 30 months at the start of the year, with the punishment being increased due to the athlete’s attempt to “deceive” Combat Sports Anti-Doping.
Both of these instances pale in comparison to one of the most famous cases in UFC history, which resulted in a champion losing his title.

Aljamain Sterling loved getting to punch TJ Dillashaw in their strange title fight
In 2019, TJ Dillashaw was stopped by Henry Cejudo when he attempted to drop down to flyweight to become a two-division champion.

Dillashaw admitted that he was ‘delusionally optimistic’ to not withdraw from his UFC 280 title fight with Aljamain Sterling despite being massively compromised by a shoulder injury.
The matchup remains one of the most bizarre title bouts in some time, but that doesn’t bother Sterling, who named this fight as the best moment of his career, excluding becoming a champion.
“Best moment? Probably punching TJ Dillashaw,” he told Home of Fight. “Because I just know he’s a cheat. He’s a lying cheat. ‘Oh no, I only got caught that time.’ Yeah, you only got caught that time. Your teammate outed you when you fought him.”
