England vs New Zealand: Harry Brook hundred in vain as tourists lose first ODI after batting collapse and dropped catches | Cricket News

Harry Brook’s incredible hundred was in vain, as England paid for an abject performance overall and dropped catches in a four-wicket loss to New Zealand at Mount Maunganui in the first One-Day International. Brook (135 from 101 balls with 11 sixes & nine fours) accounted 60.53 percent of runs in England’s 223 total in 35.2 overs. Jamie Overton (46) was the only player who reached double figures. Sam Curran came third with six.
The total of extras (17) is greater than six of England’s seven top batsmen combined. Jamie Smith (0), bowled by Matt Henry on the first ball, Ben Duckett (2), Joe Root (2) Jacob Bethell(2), Jos Buttler(4) and Curran were all out within 12 overs.
