Colby Covington books competition return against former UFC champion after over a year out

Colby Covington hopes to be the first winner since March of 2022.

Covington has been inactive for the entire year 2025. He is one of only a few UFC fighters ranked at the top who have remained so.

In his last fight, he was stopped by Joaquin Buckley in the third-round at UFC Tampa. The doctor had ruled the fight off because of a cut over his right eye.

While he’s been relatively quiet in recent times, Covington did have a UFC return and multiple opponents in his sights, having originally hoped to fight in November or December.

This opportunity may have passed him by but ‘Chaos’ is now set to return to competition on January 10.
