However, you’ll see that I make a solid case for moving that squad into the conversation.Other than that — oh, and the Tide taking a tumble — I’d say it’s business as usual for the teams who we’ll most likely see playing into December.Let’s take a look at my college football top 10 rankings ahead of Week 13.Title odds: +275The defending national champion Buckeyes have had an uneventful, basic, extremely ordinary season. Since Week 1, they have faced no ranked opponents. The team will probably have a stroll this week when they play Rutgers. However, I wonder how much Jeremiah Smith (The Team Up North), and Carnell Tate will be playing with TTUN next week. Title odds: +500The Hoosiers rebounded from their close call against Penn State by beating offensively challenged Wisconsin. They have a week to rest before they travel to Purdue in the Bucket Game. Title odds: +750For the second time this season, South Carolina couldn’t hold a lead against an SEC power and this one was especially painful. The Gamecocks’ fourth-down stop on a questionable call was the end of this one. The Aggies will have a FCS bye this week, before they head to Austin and try to get a 12-0 record and a spot in the SEC Championship Game. Title odds: +1000Georgia appeared different on Saturday night. Close calls and injuries are what have hardened this squad. It has increased the depth. The Bulldogs were all over and the Texas touchdown was on the short field following the interception. Dawgs have just completed their two most complete matches of the season, and are at peak form. Charlotte is next in Week 13, followed by a Georgia Tech game in Atlanta. Not the worst thing in the world to miss the SEC title game and get a home game against the G5 rep — or even a first-round bye. Bulldogs have a chance to win the title. Title odds: +1400The Red Raiders remain the class of Big 12. Tech could host a CFP game at home. Imagine the atmosphere! Title odds: +1500The Ducks were entitled to be disappointed after their big win over Iowa. However, Oregon did not disappoint against Minnesota. They get SC this week at Autzen in a game they should win, as the Trojans haven’t won a road game as a ‘dog in a spot like this in a long time. Could the Ducks get WR Evan Stewart for a run in the playoffs? Title odds: +2200The Rebs won against Florida, but it wasn’t the easy win most people expected. The Gators looked as if they had quit the week before. Miami’s early season win over Florida was far more dominant. In one of our group chats, someone asked if Ole Miss were actually good. Or if they just beat up on the mid-teams or an OU team still finding their way after the Mateer accident. I honestly couldn’t answer. Ole Miss has a week of rest before the Egg Bowl, which I think will be won by the Rebels. Title odds: +2000The Sooners didn’t win the box score, but they finished with more points than Alabama and that’s how they decide wins and losses. The Sooners are two wins away, against LSU and Missouri. We discussed last week how we could get a great price on them making the CFP. Although the Tide had a huge lead in yardage, they turned the ball three times and allowed a pick-six, as well as another turnover, which led to the final game-winning goal. There’s going to be a ton of pressure on Alabama in the Iron Bowl, which will serve as a de facto playoff game because if the Tide lose, they are out. Title odds +8000Enough craziness. Yes, I’m a Miami alum, but I’m not going to let that stop me from real talk. Miami beat Notre Dame. It was the first week. It was Week 1. But it happened. Miami and Alabama have the same record, and while the Tide have a couple more ranked wins than Miami, they also have an embarrassing loss in Tallahassee — the same site where Miami rolled over FSU. They have two losses in those games on the final play, but also a win better than Ohio State. Georgia, Texas Tech. Ole Miss. Oregon. Notre Dame. BYU. Utah. Vanderbilt. Their SOS is higher than Utah and Texas Tech. It’s confusing why the CFP, and other ranking systems, continue to place the Canes below Notre Dame and Utah. It’s not a jai alai match where, if you lose a point, you go to the back of the line. It would be difficult to exclude a Miami 10-2 team from the CFP if they were to win two more matches like Saturday. Chris “The Bear Fallica” has been covering sports for almost three decades.
