Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins Voices Frustration Over Hip-Drop Tackle After Injury

After Denver Broncos runningback J.K. Dobbins reportedly suffered a foot injury in a 10-7 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders, on Thursday night Football.The five-year NFL veteran took to social media Friday night to voice his frustration over the illegal move that caused him to sprain his foot — and he didn’t mince words.”Ban or call the m —–f —–hip drop tackle!” Dobbins wrote X all caps. Dobbins suffered an injury in the third-quarter of Thursday’s match when Raiders defensive tackle Tyree Wilson knocked him down following a 2-yard gain. Dobbins was helped off the field by trainers. He missed the following three drives and returned in the 4th quarter. He finished the game with 18 carries of 77 yards, and caught one target for 7 yard. Since March 2024, data has shown that hip-drop tackles are more likely than other tackles to cause injury (20 to 25%). The ban was part of an effort to make football safer. It’s still rarely called on the field. This season, Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu was suspended for one game after committing repeated hip-drop tackles.
