Bernie Kosar, a former NFL quarterback who underwent multiple procedures last week to address internal bleeding, announced in a social media video that he was just moments away from having the transplant surgery. Kosar announced in a video posted on social media early Monday morning that he would be having his transplant surgery shortly. Kosar underwent several procedures to stop internal bleeding in the past week. The former Cleveland Browns’ star announced earlier that doctors had previously diagnosed him as having Parkinson’s Disease and cirrhosis. Now, he has a reason to be optimistic in his long-running health battle.Kosar stated, “It’s not Victory Sunday on the football pitch, but it is Victory Tuesday for me at University Hospital at 4:23 am.” “I’m looking forward to heading down to the hospital right now for that liver transplant. You can’t avoid being a bit reflective as you prepare for something so monumental and transformational in your life. As I head down to the venue today, I’m thinking about all of my awesome, awesome supporters and fans, as well as my amazing family and children.

Kosar is a man of humor, and he loves the Browns without hesitation. Kosar joked about wearing his “Steelers’ black and gold University Hospital uniform” last week while waiting for one of his procedures. After leading the Miami Hurricanes team to a 1983 national championship, Kosar entered NFL’s Supplemental Draft with the intent of landing with his favourite team, the Browns. Cleveland was able to secure the Ohio native and he went on to have a legendary career as their starting quarterback for nearly a decade.

Kosar, who was named to the Pro Bowl in 1987, led the Browns through four playoffs appearances in just five years. His name is now etched in NFL and team history. He held multiple league records including the most consecutive games in which he scored three touchdowns, and the most consecutive passes that were completed without an interception. Later, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He won the Super Bowl as Troy Aikman’s backup in his first season with the team.
