The former UFC World Welterweight Champion hoped to win again on November 22.
Despite losing his title earlier this year, Muhammad’s matchup with Ian Machado Garry at UFC Qatar gave him the opportunity to put himself right back in the mix.
Both men were eager to make their mark on Saturday night, following the huge results of UFC 322 in the welterweight category the previous weekend.
Unfortunately for Muhammad, he was beaten by Machado Garry over three rounds, with the Irishman successfully defending his opponent’s takedowns while getting the better of the striking exchanges.
‘Remember the Name’ shared his thoughts on his second consecutive defeat shortly after the fight.

Belal Muhammad was watching his former teammate Islam Makhachev defeat Jack Della Maddalena and win the welterweight championship just one week before he returned to the Octagon.
Muhammad’s decision to face Makhachev is no longer a priority after his UFC Qatar loss.
‘Remember the Name’ started the year with just three career defeats before losing back-to-back bouts for the very first time.
His loss to Ian Machado Garry on Saturday night wasn’t necessarily a sign that Muhammad is no longer able to compete against the top fighters in the division.
As the former champion noted on social media, a challenging 2025 will mean a lot more work for him next year.
“We couldn’t get it done, thank you Doha for the memories. Thank you to my team and family and friends that are with me no matter what and thank you to anyone that’s with me. Alhamdillah for everything, I’m blessed to be here… we have work to do.”
