Autumn Nations Series: Tom Roebuck joins Freddie Steward as England injury doubts for Fiji | Rugby Union News

England will have to rethink their three-man backline for Saturday’s match with Fiji, but they can still count on Tom Roebuck. He has been dubbed the “new Jason Robinson” after joining Freddie Steward as a serious doubt. This injury prevents Steve Borthwick naming the team as planned on Tuesday.
Steward is yet to train due to a problem with his hand, while Roebuck has been unable to finish Tuesday’s training session because of an ankle injury. Both players have until Thursday to prove they are fit.

Kevin Sinfield has compared Feyi Wabso to cross-code legend Robinson after he ran against the Wallabies.
Robinson was nicknamed Billy Whizz and won 51 England caps between 2001-2007. He was known for electric footwork and his searing acceleration. Sinfield, an ex-Great Britain and Leeds playmaker, played Robinson at the beginning of his career.
Sinfield commented: “Manny reminds be a great deal of Jason Robinson. That’s an obvious similarity, but I’ve never come across anyone who is as powerful or explosive in those first few metres as Manny.Rob Burrow had a lot of explosiveness, but not the same amount of muscle mass as Manny.Jason is probably our most similar player – he has the same ability to break tackles and the same strength in his hips. There aren’t many players that can pull through tackles.”They simply beat people. The way they beat people is not the only thing they do. “If we can put the ball into his hands more frequently, we’ll score more tries.”

Feyi Waboso said he was happy to see that he looked like Robinson. The second of four tests will be played at Twickenham later this month, with New Zealand (and Argentina) completing the schedule.I have seen some highlights of Jason, and it is crazy. “Anything that compares him to me is huge,” said the leading try-scorer of this season in the Gallagher Prem.I’d like to be half as good as him with his speed and power. I’d love to be able to mimic any aspect of his play – he was a fantastic winger.”I will try to mimic something I see in another player that looks good, but it is hard to do with feet so fast! “No one was like him.”
