The biggest amateur stars in women’s golf get to test themselves at the home of The Masters this week, with the Augusta National Women’s Amateur live on Sky Sports.LPGA Tour stars Lottie Woad, Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho are among the past winners of the annual event, which was launched with the intention of having ‘a significant and lasting impact on the future of the women’s game’.
Forty-eight of the world’s top 50 amateur players are scheduled to feature in the 72-player field, where last year’s runner-up Asterisk Talley is among the favourites after impressing on the LPGA Tour last week at the Ford Championship.

Women’s amateur No 1 Kiara Romero headlines an international field, scheduled to feature players from 23 different countries, with nearly half of the line-up making their maiden appearance at the event.Patience Rhodes – the younger sister of LPGA Tour regular Mimi Rhodes – is the only Englishwoman in this year’s line-up, while Ireland’s Beth Coulter and Spain’s Paula Martin Sampedro – who finished tied-eighth at the AIG Women’s Open last year – are among the other European interests involved.

What is the Augusta National Women’s Amateur format? The first 36 holes are played on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club on Wednesday and Thursday, with the entire field then getting to play a practice round at Augusta National on Friday.
Only the top 30 and ties from the first two days make the cut and get to feature in the final round, which also takes place at Augusta National and on the same course where The Masters will take place the following week.
In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided in a sudden-death playoff.
