Are Ohio State WRs Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate Playing Saturday vs. Rutgers?

“There are some concerns regarding the health and condition of who I would consider their two best offensive player,” FOX Sports college-football analyst Joel Klatt shared.Joel Klatt of FOX College Football shared that “there are some concerns regarding the health of their two most important offensive players.” The status of Jeremiah Smith, and Carnell Tate remains uncertain going into the Buckeyes’ final tune-up prior to facing arch-rival Michigan at noon on November 29, (noon on FOX and FOX app). Smith is one of America’s best receivers with 69 receptions and 902 yards for 10 touchdowns this season. The sophomore wideout was on the field for the first half of the 48-10 win against UCLA last week, but sat out the second half because he appeared to favor the right leg. Tate is still on track to have 39 catches this season for 711 yard and seven touchdowns despite having missed the previous two games with what was described by the Ohio State coach Ryan Day as “lower leg tightness”. “They’re working hard to get back on the field,” he said Wednesday. “That’s it. That’s what they’re focused on.If Day decides not to play both players, then the Buckeyes (10-0, 7-0 Big Ten), still have a lot of depth at the receiving end. Last week, Brandon Inniss led the team with six catches. Max Klare had five.Klatt said that he expected to see many young players. “This has been one of best and deepest positions rooms in the nation.” Smith and Tate would be replaced, along with Inniss Klare and redshirt freshman Mylan Graham as well as true freshman Quincy Porter. Both are four-star recruits from their respective classes, but they have not yet been given the chance to perform. This week could be the time to do it. The Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin can also build his Heisman case. Sayin is currently ranked +170, behind Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza who is the -105 favorite. The Buckeyes have not won a game that would be considered a statement and it is believed that Sayin will benefit from having two NFL-caliber wide receivers. Sayin could prove to be equally deadly if the two players were out of action this week. Klatt continued, “He plays at a ridiculously higher level.” His processing speed is fast. His release time is fast.Day and Brian Hartline, the offensive coordinator, would also work to make things more balanced. OSU averaged 6.7 yard per carry and rushed for 222 against UCLA. The Associated Press contributed this report. Freshman running-back Bo Jackson has had four 100 yard games this season. Sign up for a FOX account to follow teams, leagues and players.
