Fans have waited for years to see a heavyweight fight, no matter the belts on the table. Anthony Joshua seemed to be on track for a fight against Tyson Fury, even before he announced his bout with Jake Paul.
He was planning to fight this weekend in a secret Saudi Arabian comeback on the undercard of David Benavidez and Anthony Yarde’s clash. Then he would fight in February to allow Fury a chance to tune up, and the two would fight later this year.

And while Joshua still believes those plans could work – including being willing to fight tomorrow night in Riyadh – he wants to remain laser-focused on Paul for the time being. Joshua did mention that Fury was superior because the American showed up at all.
“I take it seriously,” Joshua said of Paul’s ability to challenge him in the ring. “He’s a conqueror, his mentality is solid. It’s better than Tyson Fury’s – he’s sitting here. In preparation, I treat him with the respect he is due.
