President Donald Trump has likened the octagon that has been built on the White House lawn to the Eiffel Tower – and says it may never be torn down.
The decision to kick off Freedom 250 celebrations with an actual UFC fight card on the lawn of the White House has proven controversial for the last year. And that feeling has only intensified as the massive stage structure has begun to be constructed in recent days.
However, President Trump is a big fan of what the production team have done. And alongside his plans for a new Ballroom across from the Oval Office, he has posed the question as to if the cage should ever come down at all.

“Many don’t know that in Paris, France, the Eiffel Tower, 1889, it was built,” he told his followers from the Resolute Desk. “It was supposed to be taken down immediately after the World’s Fair. And then they said, ‘you know, we sort of like it. Let’s leave it up a little bit longer!’
“And then they said, ‘let’s leave it up longer and longer and longer.’ Well, they never took it down. And, you know, we’re building something in front of the White House that’s quite attractive to a lot of people.
“It’s going to have the big UFC fight on June 14 and I’m looking at it and maybe we’ll never, ever take it down!”
