Former UFC star that Dana White regretted letting go of asks for one more run in the

After three years out of action, former UFC star Shane Burgos has asked for one more run in the promotion.

Back in 2022, fans were somewhat surprised to learn the news that exciting all-action featherweight Shane Burgos had left the UFC after six years in the promotion.

During his time in the promotion, ‘Hurricane’ Shane tallied up eight wins from 11 fights, and he built up a reputation for being one of the most exciting fighters in the sport.

Despite that, in 2023, Burgos opted to sign for the PFL following his exit from the UFC, where he had a tougher time, losing two of his three fights in the promotion.

While in the UFC, Burgos tested himself against some big names like Cub Swanson and Edson Barboza.

His fight against the latter resulted in one of the scariest knockouts of all time, which left Dana White fearing the worst for Burgos.

Usually when the UFC lets fighters go, Dana White backs their decision and stands by it regardless of what the fans think.

But when the promotion let Burgos go, White admitted that they made a ‘big mistake’ stating that he should’ve still been with the UFC.

“Basically, there were some mistakes that were made here, some s— that … he should have still been here. I respect him very much and I wish him the best. A hundred percent [mistakes were made on the UFC side]. A hundred percent. Big mistakes were made over here,” White said at the time during an interview with Yahoo Sports.

Now, though, the UFC boss has the chance to correct his self-proclaimed mistakes as Burgos has requested one final run in the promotion after having not fought in three years.

“One more run. I needed that break from fighting,” Burgos said in a post on his Instagram.

“The weight cuts, the training camps, everything that goes into it burned me out. That’s in the past though. I’ve never stopped working. I need to be back in that fire again. I miss it. Excited for whatever’s next,” he continued.

The promotion did recently welcome back veteran Jeremy Stephens after he requested for one more run in the UFC, meaning it wouldn’t be extremely unlikely for the UFC to re-sign Burgos.
