Ronda Rousey claims Hunter Campbell attempted to ‘sabotage’ her MMA comeback

Ronda Rousey has continued with her criticism towards the UFC and the brass ahead of her MMA comeback.

Ever since her Netflix super fight against Gina Carano was announced by Most Valuable Promotions, Ronda Rousey has taken the chance to air her criticism with the UFC.

Fans were caught by surprise when the promotion announced that former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou would make his MMA comeback on the card alongside Nate Diaz.

Originally, ‘Rowdy’ Ronda was in talks to return to the UFC for her fight against Carano, but the two couldn’t come to an agreement.

Rousey takes shot at Hunter Campbell for attempting to ‘sabotage’ MMA return

Ever since Rousey decided to make her return to the sport, she has remained adamant that she wanted her fight to be against Carano.

The two were heavily linked to each other during their primes but the fight never came to fruition as Carano and Dana White had a well-documented misunderstanding.

Now, the 39-year-old has taken a shot at White’s righthand man, Hunter Campbell, calling him out for attempting to ‘sabotage’ her MMA return.

“There were a cascade of things that led to it,” Rousey said regarding her MMA return on CBS Mornings.

“I think largely, I wanted to re-write my own ending in MMA. It was just unfinished, I never formally retired, Dana said I had retired, and I hadn’t fought in like 10 years but I needed everyone to give up on me coming back before I knew I was coming back just for me.

“I first reached out to the UFC to get it done because I have so much love for them, and Dana for what he did for me, but he’s not really in charge anymore.

“Now this guy, Hunter Campbell is running things and he was really trying to like sabotage the deal and get me to fight other people and misrepresenting Gina saying she wasn’t serious and wasn’t going to make the weight.”

Rousey then took things into her own hands and Carano allowed her to take the lead in terms of what promotion the fight would take place on.

The UFC have received a lot of criticism this year for failing to make several big fights, especially with their treatment of Jon Jones and not offering him a big enough amount to return on the UFC White House event.
