NEW YORK — Tennis participant Sorana Cirstea stated the trophy she obtained after successful a latest ladies’s event was stolen from her New York lodge room whereas she was enjoying within the US Open.
Cirstea pleaded for the trophy’s return late Saturday evening, two days after she was eradicated from singles play in Flushing Meadows.
“Whoever stole my Cleveland trophy from room 314 at The Fifty Sonesta, please give it back!” Cirstea wrote on Instagram. “It has NO material value, just sentimental value. It would be (greatly) appreciated!”
Cirstea, a 35-year-old from Romania, received her third profession singles title earlier this month within the Cleveland warmup event for the U.S. Open. She went on to lose to No. 11 seed Karolina Muchova within the second spherical in Flushing Meadows.
The lodge stated it had no remark.
