Ian Machado Garry says title fight delay proves Islam Makhachev doesn’t live by same BMF

It is safe to say that Ian Machado Garry is losing his patience.

The Irish UFC welterweight believes he is next in line for a title shot in the division, having defeated former champion Belal Muhammad last November.

A number of contenders have been staking their claims for the first opportunity to dethrone Islam Makhachev, including Kamaru Usman and Michael Morales.

Garry has been hinting at the Makhachev fight going to him, despite Ali Abdelaziz’s denial. But ‘The Future’s’ latest posts have shown his frustration with a delay that he believes is wholly down to the champ.

Ian Machado Garry scolds Islam Makhachev after accusing him of holding up title fight

Garry called out Makhachev on social media earlier this week, claiming the Dagestani had requested “more time.”

After rejecting that as the stance of a true pound-for-pound king, the Irishman recently repeated that sentiment in a video on Instagram.

While he claimed to have agreed to wait until after Ramadan, Garry is not pleased to have had the timeline further delayed.

And in a clip that saw him showcasing some takedown defense, the Dublin native suggested that Makhachev clearly doesn’t live by the same BMF “mantra” that he does.

“He needs more time, and his agent’s talking out his a—,” Garry said. “Ali’s full of s—. Little rat.

“I believe Islam’s ready to fight. I believe Islam’s the very best this world has to offer as a fighter. But don’t call yourself the pound-for-pound greatest on the planet and try to push for more time.

“Anyone, anywhere, anytime,” he continued. “That’s the baddest man on the planet, and the guy who lives by that mantra is me.”

Garry first suggested he had won the welterweight title sweepstakes when he headed to Georgia to train — something he had previously vowed to do to boost his chances against Makhachev.

The champ has appeared unfazed by the Irishman’s preparation, insisting that training venture will not impact Garry’s chances against him inside the Octagon.

If ‘The Future’ is right in saying the shot is his, he will get the chance to prove Makhachev’s words wrong soon…
