Anthony Hernandez issues first statement after being knocked out by Sean Strickland at UFC

Anthony Hernandez’s winning streak came to an emphatic end on Saturday night.

The fan-favorite middleweight contender returned in the main event of UFC Houston, looking to make it nine victories in a row and secure a first title shot in the promotion.

While the former champ looks ahead to a possible challenge for gold next, it’s back to the drawing board for Hernandez, who has admitted that he was beaten by the “better man.”

“Thank you for the love Houston ! the energy was unreal,” Hernandez wrote. “Congratulations to @stricklandmma he was the better man tonight, much respect. I’ll be back better than ever.”
