UFC boss Dana White is open to the idea of Maxx Crosby and Jaylen Brown fighting under the UFC banner.
Things aren’t looking very good for the UFC heavyweight division at the moment, despite it historically being the most popular division in the sport.
Just last week, the promotion opted to cut ties with one of the division’s top contenders, Jailton Almeida, further weakening the depth of the division.
And although talent in the top division is scarce, even outside of the premier promotion, there are several signings the UFC could make to bring heavyweight back to life.
However, it may not need to be experienced heavyweights the UFC need to sign to spark some excitement into the division.
Dana White open to signing NFL and NBA stars to the UFC
UFC boss Dana White recently revealed that he is keeping a close eye on soaring heavyweight, Gable Steveson, who continues to gain MMA experience on the regional scene.
As well as Steveson, White has seemingly opened conversations with two stars from other sports regarding potential future moves to the UFC.
NBA star Jaylen Brown recently revealed he had conversations with the UFC boss regarding fighting in the UFC.
Not only that, but NFL star Maxx Crosby recently divulged that White and UFC matchmaker Hunter Campbell are ‘fully convinced’ that he will be the heavyweight champion by the end of 2030.
And although it may have seemed as though White was just playing along with conversations, following Zuffa Boxing’s third event this past Sunday, the UFC boss seemingly stated that he is open to real conversations with both stars.
“I talked to Maxx last night actually, you know, these guys are obviously stud athletes but coming over here is so different. Obviously, if Jaylen Brown and Maxx Crosby are interested in fighting (I’d be interested).
“I thought Jaylen was messing with me when he told me that but apparently he’s not, and he was training over at the UFC Performance Institute, I don’t know if you knew that but over the last couple of days he was over there working on his Muay Thai.
“I think it’s awesome, I think it’s awesome that these guys want to try to fight. I don’t know (if Maxx Crosby could save the heavyweight division), possibly,” he continued.
