Aaron Glenn, the coach of the New York Jets, announced that wide receiver Garrett Wilson would not be returning this season due to his ongoing recovery from a knee problem. Wilson was placed in injured reserve by The Jets after he sprained a knee in New York’s Week 10 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Glenn stated that Garrett was doing an excellent job with his rehabilitation. “But we’re just going to talk to the doctors and just talk to him. We’re just going to hold him for the remainder of the season.” He will be ready as soon as the offseason begins and I am very excited about that. Wilson’s 2025 season was plagued by injuries, as he only played in 7 of New York’s 14 games. He missed two games after hyperextending his knee in October. Wilson ends his fourth NFL campaign with 36 catches, 395 yards, and four touchdowns. Wilson’s four touchdown catches all came in New York’s first five matches.
Wilson, who was a first-round selection out of Ohio State in 2013, signed a four year contract extension for $130 million during the offseason. In 2023-24, he started all 34 games for New York and had 196 receptions for 2,146 yard and 10 touchdowns. Wilson, 2022’s Offensive rookie of the year, is the first player to fail to receive 1,000 yards in the NFL since his entry. New York will continue relying on Adonai Adonai as its primary receiver without Wilson. Mitchell was acquired by the Jets as part of a trade in which Indianapolis Colts All-Pro Cornerback Sauce Gardner was sent to the Jets.
Mitchell scored his first touchdown in his career on a reception of 56 yards during New York’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 30, 2018. In two of New York’s last three matches, Mitchell had at least 50 receiving yards and a score.
