Khamzat Chimbaev explained that the street wrestling match between him and Jon Jones, which went viral, was just a game.
Much was made of the middleweight champion ‘winning’ the exchange, and partners who were there for the video claimed that Jones had agreed to a ‘rematch’. Chimaev insists, however, that the joke was on them and they had a friendly meeting.
Jones is pushing for a fight to be held at the UFC White House next summer. Chimaev, on the other hand, is recovering from an injury and is hoping to return before this event. And while their altercation wasn’t real, there was a very real issue between the champion and Ian Machado Garry at UFC Qatar.

In a parking lot, two weeks ago, an online video showed Khamzat Chimaev and Jon Jones engaging in what seemed to be a grappling contest. This is similar to the UFC star who has previously fought other UFC stars behind restaurants.
What made the video so interesting was the fact that Chimaev – who had weighed in at 185lbs – managed to defeat Jones, whose previous fight weight was more than 237lbs. The video went everywhere, but perhaps wasn’t as serious as has been made out.
