Jones has to convince White that a comeback is possible. The UFC president described ‘Bones’ as too unreliable for an event as big as next year’s White House card.
Conor McGregor, Joe Rogan and others have supported Jones in his bid to fight at this event. Jones’ fight with Pereira would not happen if the fans got their way.
Recently, 2,628 fans participated in a Bloody Elbow TalkingPoints survey to choose who Jones would fight in the Octagon if he returned in 2026.
Aspinall won with a huge majority, with more than 44 percent still wanting the American to face the heavyweight titleholder with whom he refused the unification of titles in favor of fighting Stipe miocic at the end 2024.
Pereira, who received 26.48 percent votes, was far behind. The Brazilian asked Jones for a heavyweight Superfight after beating Magomed Akalaev and becoming a 2-time light-heavyweight champion this October.
Nearly 17 percent of the fans want White, who has had a rift with Francis Ngannou for many years, to settle their differences and fight Jones. Ten percent would prefer a surprise bout with Khamzat Chmaev, newly crowned Middleweight King.
