Max Verstappen finished sixth, while Oscar Piastri beat Lando Norris, his McLaren teammate, in the one practice session of the Qatar Grand Prix.
Norris leads the Drivers’ Championship with two rounds left by 24 points over Piastri and Verstappen. He will win the title if he has at least 26 more points than the other drivers.
Verstappen, who was not happy with his car’s drivability during the hour-long session, will try to fix the problem for the remainder the Qatar weekend. He won the race last year.
Bernie Collins, Sky Sports F1 F1 commentator, said: “Red Bull need to improve.”
Red Bull is generally good at responding to Verstappen’s complaints about shifting in the car. They get the car out in a more favorable position.

Norris, Piastri and the McLarens only dominated on soft tyres. They are still favourites, however, if they go by their second push-lap time. Piastri was faster on the first.
