Alex Pereira had a promising career as a boxer before he switched to MMA and UFC.
Alex Pereira is the fastest rising star in combat sport. He has taken over the UFC within a few short years.
The Brazilian made the transition from kickboxing where he was a Glory Double Champion and had an extremely successful career. He will probably go down in history as one of greatest kickboxers ever.
However, kickboxing isn’t the only other martial art ‘Poatan’ had a career in, as he had an extremely fruitful amateur career in boxing.

Whilst training in kickboxing, which he didn’t start until he was 22 years old, he opted to kick off an amateur career in boxing to help improve his skills.
The Brazilian said that he was in 14 amateur matches, all of which he claimed were won within the first minute.
Pereira, who revealed more information about his boxing history earlier this year, claimed to have knocked all three Olympic boxers out during his career.
“I actually started fighting this guy on the Olympic team in Brazil when I started boxing and I was knocking everybody out, very quickly in the beginning of my career,”Pereira was interviewed on the Jaxxon Podcast.
Although there isn’t much of a record regarding his boxing career, a few of his KO’s have surfaced online over the last few years, and it shows the birth of his signature left hook.
Pereira, in one of his amateur bouts, knocked out a Brazilian Olympic boxer with a vicious right hook. This showed how dangerous Pereira was even at the start.
After scoring several KO’s on the amateur scene against Olympic team members, Pereira was ordered to go pro, and in 2017, he finally made his professional boxing debut, which he went on to win via KO.
