Jack Hermansson’s fans were worried after he suffered an embarrassing defeat on Saturday.
Islam Makhachev won the welterweight division at UFC 322 after he defeated Jack Della Maddalena.
It’s certainly not uncommon to see fighters move weight classes but it is concerning when someone late in their career attempts to reinvent themselves by dropping down.
Hermansson’s debut at welterweight was halted by Myktybek Orolbai.
‘The Joker’ has since issued a statement on social media reacting to his defeat following questions as to whether he should hang up the gloves.

Jack Hermansson is clear that he doesn’t intend to retire from UFC after the UFC Qatar loss
Jack Hermansson’s knockout loss to Myktybek Orolbai on November 22 confirmed concerns about his move to the welterweight division.
Fans worried about his health when the 34-year-old veteran of the ring was knocked unconscious by a bullet that seemed to hit him in the side.
Hermansson has now lost two consecutive first rounds after his devastating loss to Gregory Rodrigues last June.

The 37-yearold posted a reaction to his defeat on Instagram shortly after the bout, in which he expressed that he loves the sport.
Hermansson said that he would not dwell on the latest setback, but instead face it and look at the positives.
“Four hours of sleep. Have a look at your ugly face in the mirror and remember that you got knocked out AGAIN yesterday. It is easy to feel sorry for yourself, but that will not make things better. So I’m done with that. It is time to man up and be grateful. Thank you to my family, team, fans, and sponsors. I still love this.”
