Last week, Tom Brady shared that the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was one of the most haunting of his career. However, there’s another Super Bowl he’d like to rewrite. In the return of Brady’s mailbag (presented by Verizon), the seven-time Super Bowl winner was asked if there was one throw in his career that he’d like to take back. “Yes. One game immediately came into my mind. When you think of the game, one immediately comes to mind.” ‘Do you wish you could’ve done something different in your NFL career,’ [question gets asked]Brady’s referring to New York Giants’ 17-14 defeat in Super Bowl XLII when the Patriots lost the perfect season. But the one Brady’s referencing is New England’s 17-14 loss in Super Bowl XLII, when the Patriots lost their perfect season in the final game.Tom Brady’s Darkest Career Years, The Wild Rob Gronkowski Draft And The Throw He Wants Back New England actually led for a good portion of that game before it traded scores with New York in the fourth quarter. Brady actually threw Randy Moss a touchdown to give the Patriots a lead of 14-10 with 2:42 left. David Tyree’s helmet catch on the next drive allowed the Giants a touchdown, giving them a 17-14 advantage with 35 seconds remaining. While it may have seemed impossible to come back and tie the game, Brady almost helped the Patriots reach field goal range. That’s when the throw he’d most like to have back in his career occurred. Brady stated that Randy Moss was behind the defense late in the game and I missed the ball by one yard. “It was the most distant throw I’ve ever made,” Brady said. I rolled it to the left, then threw Randy the ball across the field. Randy already had the defender beat. If I throw the ball out one more yard he’ll probably catch that. We then kick the goal and move to overtime. It’s possible we could win in overtime but that would have to be it.Brady threw the pass when the Patriots were facing a 3rd-and-20 on their 16 yard line. The ball traveled approximately 65 yards. Brady stated that Moss had beat both Giants defenders, but only one was able stop the pass. If Brady was able to complete that pass to Moss, the Patriots would’ve likely been in the red zone with just over 10 seconds left. Brady’s mind is now stuck on what would have happened if he completed the pass to Moss.”It’s worse than sad,” Brady added of the loss. Want to receive great stories in your email?
