Green Bay Packers were dealt with two notable injuries during the first half of Sunday’s win against the New York Giants. Quarterback Jordan Love briefly left the game but returned sustaining a left shoulder injury, however, running back Josh Jacobs did not return to action after sustaining a knee injury during the second quarter. Matt LaFleur stated that Jacobs’ knee injury would not be expected to end the season. Further tests will be performed on Monday. LaFleur stated that he was concerned for Jacobs’ welfare whenever a player of his stature, or any player, did not finish a match.
Jacobs left the locker room when he was injured during Green Bay’s first scoring drive. Before getting hurt, the three-time Pro Bowler had 40 yards in seven carries.
With Jacobs absent, the Packers ground attack was led Emmanuel Wilson. Wilson rushed for a total of 40 yards and scored a touchdown in 11 carries. Green Bay still managed to run for 128 yards on 23 carries and score one touchdown despite Jacobs absence. Love visited the medical tent after leaving the match before going to the locker rooms. The next day, he was deemed questionable and would not be returning. Jacobs may not have suffered a season-ending injury, but the severity of his injury is still significant. This is not good news for Packers as Jacobs was one of their most prolific players since the beginning of the 2024 football season.
Jacobs, in his first season with the Packers last year, rushed for 15 touchdowns, a career high, while helping Green Bay secure a playoff spot. Jacobs has rushed for 648 yard and 11 touchdowns for the Packers this season. The Packers improved to 6-3-1 after Sunday’s victory.
