At Madison Square Garden, Islam Makhachev made history on Saturday when he defeated welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena in a dominant display.
Former lightweight champion, moved up to a heavier weight class, defeated Della Maddalena in five rounds by unanimous decision (50-50, 50-50, 50-50).
Topuria, current lightweight champion, has been quick to respond to the UFC 322 result.

Topuria wanted to fight Makhachev first before moving up to the welterweight weight division.
The lightweight champion won the vacant title at UFC 317 against Charles Oliveira.
