    Will Jazz Chisholm Jr., Yankees Agree to Long-Term Contract? Cashman Provides Update


    Brian Cashman, the general manager of the New York Yankees, provided an update regarding negotiations with Jazz Chisholm Jr. about a long-term deal.Cashman told journalists Wednesday that they had not spoken about anything other than the fact that Jazz Chisholm Jr. is looking forward to playing in next year. “He loves playing in this city. Open yourself to a long-term discussion if you want to engage in a genuine conversation about value. But that is all.”Chisholm will be arbitration-eligible in 2026 and then a free agency at the end next season. He has previously expressed his wish to remain in New York despite his uncertain long-term prospects.Chisholm told Chris Kirschner, The Athletic: “I don’t wish to leave New York.” If you’ve played here before, you wouldn’t want to leave. In the end, it all comes down to whether or not they want me. It’s the only difference. They want a player who can play 40-40? Tell me.”The 27 year old wrapped up an excellent 2025 campaign, hitting.242 with 31 home runs along with 31 stolen bases. He also had 80 RBI. Chisholm started his MLB career in Miami with the Marlins. He was traded to the Yankees by the Marlins in July 2024. After the trade, Chisholm excelled, hitting 11 home runs in 46 games.
