The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll following Sunday’s defeat by the Chicago Bears. This was the fourth consecutive loss for the team.
Joe Schoen, the General Manager of the Giants, will continue in his position and be in charge of the search for a replacement head coach. The Giants had led the Bears 24-20 in Week 10 but were defeated by the Bears. They are now 2-8 under Daboll and heading for their third straight losing campaign.

In a statement, President John Mara and Chairman Steve Tisch stated that they had discussed the direction the franchise was taking on the field and decided it would be in their best interests to change the head coach.
“The last few seasons were nothing but disappointing and we haven’t met our expectations for the franchise. We are aware of the frustrations our fans feel, and will do everything we can to improve on this.

The Giants’ second significant lead was blown Sunday. They had led the Denver Broncos 19-0, then 26-8 before losing 33-32 in Week Seven. Sunday’s humbling loss to the Bears felt like an inevitable end.”In 2022, the Giants believed that Daboll could revive a team, especially its offense, which had been limping along in irrelevance for the better part of a decade. He had played a key role in Josh Allen’s success in Buffalo. They wanted him to work with Daniel Jones, hoping to get similar results from a quarterback who was struggling to meet the expectations of a 6th overall draft pick.

Daboll Schoen and the Giants had to start from scratch when Jones, Schoen, and Daboll were benched in mid-November 2024 for his poor play.
